ND Care & Support

ND Care & Support has over 15 years’ experience within the implementation, delivery and development of bespoke support/care packages, aimed to meet the individual needs of those who require tailor made support, within which they are at the core.

ND Care & Support is registered with the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW).

ND Care and Support provide services from its Offices In Cardiff, Abertilery & Cross Hands.

ND Care and Support offers a range of services aimed to meet individual personal and practical care and support needs. We support a wide range of people including those with illness, physical disability and leaning impairment, some of whom may have additional complex or challenging needs.

The service we provide can be long term or on a temporary basis. We work in unity with other professionals such as those within Healthcare and Social Services, to ensure we can meet identified needs

ND Care & Support provides approximately 7000 hours of care per week. Most of these services are commissioned through the local authority and health authority however increasingly individual service users are coming to ND Care & Support independently.

New Directions Care and Support has three separate teams which each specialise in different areas of service provision.

Older Peoples Service
Our Homecare Team offer services to older people, people with age related mobility issues, mental health issues such as confusion or dementia, sensory issues such as hard of hearing or sight loss. We support people who can be labelled as challenging, this can be physically and verbally challenging due to the nature of their support needs or a sign of frustration with their situation. We support people who require physical support to meet their personal care needs and we support people who need a little encouragement and reminding. We also support individuals who are at the end of their lives and wish to remain in their own homes during this time.

ND Care & Support also offers respite services to primary carers enabling people to have a break from their care giving responsibilities, this can take the form of longer sessions to overnight support depending on need.

Children’s Learning Disability Services
ND Care and Support have a dedicated team of people who provide after school services for children with a learning disability and or physical disability. The aim of this service is to provide brief respite for the young person, their parents /guardians and brothers/sisters. This service is largely commissioned through the local authority and consists of a 2/3-hour session once or twice a week. Most of the young people we support attend an additional learning need school and have a learning disability and associated medical or behavioural issues, some of the young people would be described as challenging.
ND Care & Support provide bespoke services and are often asked to increase this service during school holidays, during times when parents/guardians are incapacitated and require additional support, this can mean longer sessions to overnight support.

Adult Learning Disability Services
ND Care and Support also offer a sessional service to people aged 18 years and over who have a learning disability and or mental health who do not fit into traditional older people services. A significant number of these individuals will require a support worker to help them build and develop independent living skills such as cooking, shopping, paying bills, socialising etc. New Direction provides this service to many adults who live independently or who remain in the family home. Some of the people we support may have additional health needs such as epilepsy, diabetes or physical disabilities which will be supported.

Personal Care Services
ND Care & Support can provide care and support staff that will go into a person’s home and provide support., we can also provide staff who work in the community, this is dependent of the individuals support needs.
Our staff can undertake tasks such as personal care, support with washing, dressing, light housework and assistance with community-based activity such as shopping, attending scheduled appointments or social activities etc. Our staff are trained in all aspects of service delivery and have access to more specialised training where there is an identified need.
